We Went To Essence of Trance Boat Festival Did You?
Finally, after two years, we were able to come together and party again, and what an awesome experience it was. Thinking back it was a great feeling to be able to get ready and know we are traveling to what was a very special event. It was great to be able to see how excited everyone was and meet new people all ready and united by and for the love of Trance music.
Essence of Trance, an event put together by DJ RAM, had a massive lineup and consisted of six boats including our ship ”De Waddenzee” with well-known artists, Rene Ablaze, Billy Gillies, Sean Tyas, RAM, and Cold Blue.
Before departing we had a small wait for everyone to get onboard. With no social distancing needed everyone was super happy and ready to go. This is where Trance with Izzy and Mindblasts came together for the first time. Both really excited to see Asteroid play but due to unforeseen circumstances not being able to. We were so lucky to have the other DJs onboard.
When departing, Rene Ablaze kicked off his set and from that moment on it was a great uplifting experience. The second artist to play was Billy Gillies who took the dancefloor by storm with his well-received tracks. A beautiful moment was when he played one of his most respected tracks of 2020 “Closed Eyes”. His remix of “Tears From The Moon” always works its magic on the dancefloor. Finally, closing with his banging remix of “Paul Van Dyk – Nothing But You”. This was a really heartfelt way to close his set and one that truly matched the vibe.
Next on was Sean Tyas. He played a lot of new music from his label Regenerate. It’s always a pleasure to see him with his lovely dance moves behind the decks. With lots of new music and a slightly harder sound and kick & bass, this set was surely one to get the crowd going wild. After his set, we managed to have a catch up with each other and talked about producing skills.
Straight after it was time for the man and the organiser himself DJ RAM. RAM was really happy with how our boat was going along and how into it everyone was. Our boat was on fire he said. He played an amazing set, but had to leave not long after to change boats to play another set.
Too bad for us the last set of the party had now arrived, but very happy to welcome Cold Blue. This was my (Izzy’s) favourite set of the day and I remember him also telling me that it was his favourite crowd of the day. It was great to see him supporting our very good friend Asteroid by playing his brand new, recently voted number one track Home. It was also great to hear him play “Land of the Free” because this is a track I love to use in my sets as well.
I asked Cold Blue if he could play “Speed of Life” because it’s an amazing track to hear from a top sound system. The cruise ended in style with Cold Blue dropping his classic “11 days” and it matched perfectly with sailing back into the harbor.
This beautiful day came to an end and we hope this blog gives you an insight to my amazing experience. If you didn’t had a chance to attend this amazing boat party don’t forget to check out the after movie below.
