How To Bypass The Mind and Tell a Story Instead
There is something extremely powerful about stories, don’t you think? What do you enjoy about a story?
It’s quite fascinating what occurs when we are being told a story or metaphor. Similarly, it’s even more fascinating when someone expresses their thinking! If you have the ears to listen and eyes to observe, one will begin to notice that every person has a unique Metaphorical Landscape. Quantum Physics calls this Holographic Reality. We are the artists that paint our reality, story, and life onto the canvas.
Maybe you’re wondering what this has to do with stories. Well, maybe it is easier if I tell you one.
I was talking with a friend the other day, it was a long time since we had caught up. We chatted about lots of things, life, work, family, and friends, you know one of those chats that make you smile! One of them! Anyway, the friend asked if I have seen a movie called The Story of the Story. I hadn’t seen it. So I decided to witness this movie. I went to the cinema, grabbed some popcorn, and kicked back. Feeling super relaxed and present as the opening scene emerges. I began to relax and just observe, it was quiet, not a murmur from anyone, including Adam.
Then out of nowhere a heart-wrenching scene, the crowd gives out a loud cry and the peace is broken. It feels like a wave of emotion, a tsunami of intensity as I find it hard to surface. I no longer felt like I was watching a movie, it was me, I was the movie, I have no longer seen, or saw the scenes, they were me, I am the story. After a burst, the waves subsided, I relaxed back into the chair, I remembered my original state. There was an overwhelming sense of peace and aliveness. The movie finishes, I ascend the stairs guided by the lights, and then I began to travel home. By the way, have you witnessed this movie yet? Magical eh?!
Stories are a great way to bypass the defensive mechanisms created by the mind. A story isn’t personal. It’s not about me, it’s about a character, right? Stories and metaphors are a shortcut to the subconscious.
The mind is the author of the Metaphorical Landscape. You are not the mind. You are not the movie or the character.
You were before the story, and you will be after.
“Vaster than the sky, greater than space. What you were before you came” – Mooji Baba
What movie are you watching?
