Forget Perfectionism – Try This
If I tallied-up the number of hours, days, and possibly even weeks that I have procrastinated, geeez, it would be a lot.Do you operate a perfectionist pattern? How many times have you stopped yourself doing something “because it doesn’t look right, feel right, taste right, smell right or maybe sound right?” – as I write this, it occurred to me, what are we making a comparison to? Does one think of it being a certain way? Of course. Then I ask. Where did ‘this way’ come from? From my own experience I took a lot of influence from external factors, I wanted it be as perfect as entrepreneurs, healers, singers, writers, etc etc. What ever it is you are trying to achieve, ask yourself – is me trying to make things perfect enhancing or hindering the process?Let me try and explain it like this…You’re sat lake side admiring the sheen of sunshine reflecting off the lakes surface. It’s calm, there is not even a gentle breeze. You decide to create a ripple in the water. You first go looking for the perfect stone. After you found it, you start thinking about the perfect way to throw it in. This takes a while. Plotting. Editing. Strategising. But still, there is lack of ripples in the water, no?So I ask, what would be an effective way to create a ripple? Maybe the stone?
