Vegusto Cheese: The Best Plant Based Cheese on the Market?

Like many other vegans/ who are giving up dairy, I eat quite a bit of vegan cheese. In fact, it was the one thing stopping me from going vegan for a while; the fact that cheese is so good but there is no similar alternative made from soy/nuts.

Consider my surprise when I ordered Vegusto from the Green Bay Supermarket as a Christmas treat! It is not the cheapest vegan cheese, but in my , it is the best. Made with coconut oil and almond butter, it has the fatty cheese texture that isnt often present in the more chalky vegan cheeses (especially those produced for Morrisons!).

It is creamy and silky, edible on its own – something you cannot really say about other cheeses. I managed to eat the block in a couple days, taking slices of it just to it on its own! It has a flavour like a mix betweeen parmisan and cheddar and melts in your mouth.

And talking about melting, it melts very well. Whether to go on bread for a grilled cheese, or for Maccaroni and Cheese, as both elements in the bechamel and grated on top, it gives an oozy creemyness that is almost impossible to get from other cheeses (better even than applewood!).

So, treat yourself today, get a block and try it!
